Hiking in Mauritius

Mauritius offers several hiking trails that allow you to explore its beautiful landscapes, lush forests, and natural beauty. 

Black River Gorges National Park: This is one of the most popular hiking destinations in Mauritius. It offers a range of hiking trails of varying difficulty levels, leading you through dense forests, waterfalls, and offering stunning viewpoints. Popular trails within the park include the Black River Peak Trail and the Macchabee Trail.

Le Morne Brabant: This UNESCO World Heritage Site offers a challenging hike. The trail takes you to the summit of Le Morne Brabant, which provides panoramic views of the surrounding area.

Lion Mountain: Located in the southeastern part of the island, Lion Mountain offers a moderate hike with beautiful vistas. It's an excellent choice for a half-day adventure.

Tamarind Falls (7 Cascades): The Tamarind Falls trail leads to a series of seven waterfalls in the Tamarin area. This trail offers both easy and more challenging options.

Piton de la Petite Rivière Noire: This is the highest peak in Mauritius, and the hike is quite challenging. It's recommended for experienced hikers and offers breathtaking views from the summit.

Chamarel Waterfall: While it's not a traditional hike, you can visit the Chamarel Waterfall, which is accessible by a short trail. The area is known for its unique geological features.

Alexandra Falls and Black River Gorges Viewpoint: These are easily accessible viewpoints in the Black River Gorges National Park, and you can enjoy a short hike to reach them.
